■ Onuma Quasi-National Park,
　 three new famous beautiful locations
One of Japan's new famous three beautiful locations. Many tourists come to see the 3 lakes Onuma, Konuma and Junsainuma and Hokkaido's Mt. Komagatake as they are beautiful in all seasons.

■ Onuma, Konuma, Junsainuma
It was dammed up by the volcanic activity of Mt. Komagatake, and three beautiful lakes resembling a Japanese garden were born. There are 126 islands in the lake big and small, and some of these are linked by bridge, and a path weaves through like the mesh of a net, making for a great walk around the islands.

■ Akamatsu (Japanese red pine) Highway
It is 14.3km from Kikyo-cho, Hakodate-shi to Togeshita, Nanae-cho, and there is the Akamatsu tunnel chosen as one of the 100 famous Japanese roads lined with more than 1,400 Akamatsu.

■ The birthplace of western agriculture

Nanae-cho currently produces superb farm products and is famous as the town which first cultivated Western apples and baron potatoes that spread widely over Japan, and has the history of adopting Western agricultural methods ahead of the whole country nationwide.

■ The fruit village, fruit hunting experience
From June to November, there's a popular fruit farm where you can enjoy hunting for fruit such as strawberries, cherries, plums, blueberries, peaches, apples, grapes.

■ Beef and Dairy Products
In the northern part of town, stock raising and dairy farming are prosperous. There's brand beef such as the Hakodate Onuma Gyu (beef) that you can enjoy the original beef flavor with tender red meat or the Hakodate Onuma Kuroushi (black beef) with its moderately sweet fat body, fine texture and tender flesh, and there are also plenty of dairy products such as mozzarella, camembert, and soft serve ice-cream.
